Chiba, Japan — Whilest roaming the show floor here at Macworld Expo Tokyo, I was able to confirm that the new generation of Power Mac G4 desktop machines (500 MHz) do, in fact, support FireWire Disk Mode:

When I tried the same test (holding down the “T” key at restart) on a 350 MHz PowerMac G4 and the latest (rev. e) FireWire iMacs – no luck. As we reported earlier today, the new professional PowerBooks announced here on Wednesday (Pismo) also support FireWire Disk Mode.
