Update: NoBeige.com reader, Bruce McFadden, writes in with his experience regarding the fore-mentioned PalmCrystal cases for Palm III and Palm IIIx PDAs:
YI received mine, and was promptly sent a “recall” notice from the PalmCrystal. No explanation or anything, it just said to “send back via fedex and bill the recipient”. I went ahead and put my PalmIIIx guts inside the bondi blue PalmCrystal case anyway … it looks great, but hotsync barely works at all — there is something wrong with the design which causes the pins not to make good contact with the hotsync cradle.
So, please warn your readers, do NOT order one of these (I think the PalmCrystal site is down anyways). I called them, and they did not seem to understand my questions … there is something very fishy going on at PalmCrystal.
PalmCrystal is now selling colored cases designed specifically for Palm III and Palm IIIx PDAs. The cases cost US$29.95 and are available from PalmCrystal’s secure Web site. Buy one, and you too can be the coolest kid on the block.
