According to a discussion at NYC Wireless, New York City may be looking to get a hold of Metricom’s wireless network for emergency use. That network is presently on the block in bankruptcy court. Anthony Townsend of NYC Wireless says he is looking for volunteer opportunities as we work to reconnect New York City after last week’s tragedy. Expect to wait longer before we even know what is needed, and even after that, a difficult recovery effort is likely to take weeks, if not months. Stay tuned.
