Up until late December, firing up the Internet Explorer Web browser in the default installation of Mac OS 9 or X would re-direct you to an Apple start page from Excite – apple.excite.com (remember the red?). For reasons as yet unknown Apple has ditched Excite in favor of Netscape and the default page has been moved to a new MyApple service on Netscape.com. Shame too, it’s an ugly page and an ugly URL http://home.netscape.com/oem/apple/index.html/. Why didn’t they use Mac.com?
