The notebook in Dell Notebook Looks Awfully Like an iBook is a Latitude L400, and was also sold as an Inspiron model for awhile.

The model predates the (current) iBook by a few months–the press release was from February 2001.

It’s over a pound lighter than the iBook, but it has no internal CD/DVD drive, no Firewire, and of course, no Mac OS.
