I’ve had my P800 for about two weeks now, and even without iSync 2 or whatever they’re going to call it, the phone works great with my PB17. I moved all my contacts to the phone via Bluetooth and the Apple address book.
I’m an Entourage user, but the P800 doesn’t like the Microsoft vcard format, so I transfered the contacts I wanted in the P800 to address book, made groups like Work Contacts, Personal contacts, etc.
Once I had the contacts in the groups, I just clicked and dragged the group to the desktop. Then I launched the Bluetooth file transfer, pointed to the group vcard and hit send. The software complains that the phone wont accept the file, but just hit transfer anyway and it goes fine.
The P800 reads the vcard fine and now all my contacts are in the phone, in groups even. The Bluetooth transfer works for just about anything that you need to transfer to the phone and back again, i.e., Word and Excel docs, audio files, video files (QT MP4 works great..) pictures and even applications (.sis files) can be installed with Bluetooth.
I’m not sure what the new iSync is going to offer other than syncing your contacts and schedule, but I really don’t miss it at all.
