Apple iPod mini new packagingCheck out the second revision to the iPod mini packaging. The original iPod mini came in a box that was the same dimensions as the full-size iPods – a perfect cube. The new minis are boxed in something half the size. The original iPod packaging won the I.D. Magazine Annual Design Review Award in 2004. Ok, back to whatever you were doing…

iPod Socks? Foof!

Yes, in stark contrast to this year’s non sequitur from Apple, the utterly inexplicable US$29 iPod socks, this is an accessory you might actually want: lovely (if somewhat, er, foofy) fabrics, handmade, and an interesting alternative to rubber. Even better, the folks at foof make a sleeve for your `Book to keep scratches away — a major issue, especially on the Aluminum and Titanium models. I still like the ability to operate the scroll wheel in the case, but at US$10.50 these are a great deal. As for the Apple alternative, well, at least Apple isn’t making iPod Jocks. Yet.
