DLO iBoom: Boomin' With Your iPod
The iBoom is a 20-watt iPod speaker system that turns your iPod into a portable boombox. It works like this: simply install your white iPod in the docking bay in the middle and crank up the volume, which is quite loud btw. When you're tired of listening to your iPod or just want to tune in to NPR, Car Talk or Stern then click over to the built-in FM radio. We love it here at the PowerPage and can't wait to take the iPod on the boat this summer.
The DLO iBoomÊfeatures a built-in handle, auxiliary input and can be powered via its included AC adapter or six D batteries (not included.) As an added bonus the iBoom powers and charges your iPod while plugged into AC power.
What makes the iBoom different from other iPod speaker systems is that it is the only iPod speaker system that's truly portable and ready for outdoor activity. Other iPod dockable speakers like the Bose and On Stage are more designed for your desk or in the office; the speakers take batteries (Altec Lansing InMotions, JBL On Tour) really aren't designed to take to the pool, beach, park etc. they're more designed to be in-the-hotel-room speakers. The DLO iBoom is really a one of a kind product.
Available for US$149 from Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) Direct. If you want to pick one up, they're still offering their Macworld 2005 show special - A free BoomBag, an excellent form-fitting case, when you buy an iBoom.
