WMC: M3 Summit Opens in Miami Tomorrow

The M3 Summit (Miami, Music, Multimedia) opens tomorrow at Winter Music Conference in Miami, FL. The event (which is co-sponsored by Apple) bills itself as “the only gathering in the United States to merge modern music, technology, fashion, and multimedia arts as an integrated lifestyle.” On the bill are sunset sessions and poolside networking parties, confirmed guests include John Legend (Thursday night), Cirque Du Soleil Musique (Saturday night) and one of my personal favorites – Layo and Bushwacka. I will be covering the event live from Miami for CreateDigitalMusic.com and look forward to bringing back reports on the latest in mobile DJ technology. More soon…

PowerBook Etch-A-Sketch

RedHanded has posted a story about hacking the motion sensor in the 2005 PowerBooks.

The amstracker commandline is really all you need to get started, as evidenced by this Python script, which controls iTunes by either “bumping” the laptop to advance a track or by rocking the laptop to move around the playlist.
Joey DeVilla has further challenged the scripting world to turn the PowerBook into an Etch-A-Sketch. So you can reboot your laptop by evoking the familiar Flip-N-Pull-A-Seizure manual restart of the kiddie canvas.

Keynote and Pages Updated

Apple has released updates for the applications in their new iWork suite. Keynote has been updated to version 2.0.1 and Pages is up to 1.0.1. According to Software Update:
Keynote 2.0.1 addresses isolated issues that may have affected reliability for some customers.
Pages 1.0.1 addresses isolated issues that may have affected reliability for some customers and resolves an issue related to deleting complete pages.
