Bluetake BT007SiI finally took the plunge and purchased a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, but it created a problem all its own. How could I make it communicate with my (non-Bluetooth) Titanium PowerBook? After searching (and I mean SEARCHING), I finally found a USB Bluetooth adapter (dongle for those in the UK) that I felt worthy of my PowerBook. UPDATE: We’ve uncovered some issues with this adapter. Some quick PowerPage housekeeping notes:
1. PPUG
If you’re in the area, stop by the Philadelphia PowerBook User Group (PPUG) which meets Saturday in the Manayunk section of town. Drop by for tech presentations by Bob “The Snowman” Snow, the big dawg himself Rob Parker and your fearless editor Jason “Sosumi” O’Grady.
After recently converting to an iPod shuffle, this meeting will feature some of my favorite shuffle accessories from DLO Direct, XtremeMac and Speck Products. And If you’d didn’t know about my obsession for bags, come Saturday and watch me spiral out of control in a funnel cloud of ballistic nylon, YKK zippers and mesh pockets. See the latest PowerBook bags from Crumpler and Brenthaven.
WHERE: Manayunk Brew Pub
WHEN: Saturday, June 18, 2005.
The full PPUG calendar is posted here and you can subscribe to PPUG calendar dates by pointing your copy of iCal to:

2. SAN FRANCISCO
The PowerPage World Tour is stopping in San Francisco June 21-24. If you want to come share tips, talk tech or generally just hang out get in touch. We’re all going dumpster diving in Cupertino after the meetup :)
3. INDEPENDENCE DAY
We love liberty here at the PowerPage and being based just outside of Philadelphia, you know that we’re celebrating Independence Day with a bang on 04 July 2005. We’re not publishing July 1st and 4th unless it’s important because we’ll busy grillin’, partying at the Live 8 concert (in Philly) and enjoying the Jersey shore. We suggest that you take some time to enjoy yourself, your friends and your family.
- See you in S.F.!

RoughlyDrafted: Tech columnists love to rehash old stories and suggest the future will play out just like a vaguely similar event from the past. But as old stories are retold, they become celebrated legends that eventually grossly distort what actually happened.

MPC Carbon Fibre NotebookThe Acer Ferrari 4000 is the first notebook to employ a carbon fiber casing according to Gizmag. Now MPC has joined the carbon fibre club with its own high-powered notebook:

Designed to offer an ultra-sleek notebook with exceptional performance in a lightweight form factor, the TransPort U1000 ultra-portable notebook computer weighs less than four pounds, an Intel Pentium M processor for high-performance mobile computing, and 12.1″ display integrated into a carbon-fiber lid. At US$1,900, it’s a lot of performance in an incredibly light package, but someone should tell them about the attractiveness of the carbon weave. Read More at Gizmag.
