It looks like Apple is considering branding its new line of Intel-based Macs under the “MacTel” moniker. MacSlash and CNet have posted that Apple has filed a trademark for the term. Does anyone else out there think that MacTel sounds horrible? What about the “MacIntel?”
Or “Intelintosh?”
Or just “InTosh?”
Ok, product naming is not my strong suit, Ok?

Check out this interesting post over at MacDailyNews about Mac OS X running on a Tablet PC:
“So, Apple has released their dev kits for OS X on Intel hardware and I was lucky enough to be the recipient of one. I took a disk image off of this badboy and loaded it onto my tablet. It booted but unfortunately the tablet’s screen didn’t work. I tried booting with an external monitor and… it actually worked. Having configured linux in the past to recognize the wacom digitizer I set to work on getting it up in OS X. This proved none too difficult as the tablet essentially just has a serial port to which the digitizer is connected. The standard wacom drivers for OSX worked fine once I configured it for this port,” Charles Alexander writes in a posting over at Tablet PC Buzz.

PC Magazine: “In his latest column for PC Magazine, John Dvorak envisions a scenario where spyware and viruses emerge on the Mac platform. Dvorak believes PC users will inevitably find a way of installing Mac OS X for Intel on their generic machines. As a result, Apple will likely release a version of Mac OS X for PC users, rather than lose sales to piracy. “To many Mac aficionados the uniqueness of the platform will be lost forever [...] The big problem that Mac users will have to face is the emergence of virus code and spyware aimed at them.” eWEEK columnist Jason Brooks shares Dvorak’s view on Mac OS X for PCs. He believes Apple will eventually release “OS X Unbound” — a version of its operating system for PCs. Apple will then face several issues, such as cannibalization of Apple’s hardware sales.”

Cult of Mac‘s Leander Kahney: “It’s complete surprise to me that the iBook’s battery pack is filled with ordinary-looking rechargeable batteries. Apparently this is also the case with the PowerBook. And I thought they’de be filled with a rectangular battery — dense and compact — like the iPod. It’s so un-high-tech.”
