New SETI@home Client and Data Format

SETI@homeSETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data. SETI recently updated their client software (BOINC) and data format, so you may want to login and update your software.
Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) is a software platform for distributed computing using volunteered computer resources. If you own a Windows, Mac, Linux or Unix computer you can participate in scientific research in many areas:
* study climate change
* Einstein@home: search for gravitational signals coming from pulsars
* LHC@home: improve the design of the CERN LHC particle accelerator
* Predictor@home: investigate protein-related diseases
* SETI@home: Look for radio evidence of extraterrestrial life
* Cell Computing biomedical research
To participate in a project visit the BOINC Web site and create an account, then download and run the BOINC client software.

The word ‘Podcast’ was added to the Oxford Dictionary and is now officially part of English language. Definition:

“Podcast” (a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar programme, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player) is now an official part of the English language, as the word has been included in the Oxford Dictionary.

In related news Adam Curry?s PodShow received $8.85 million in venture capital and Evan Williams? Odeo received an unspecified investment from Charles River Ventures, Amicus Ventures, and 14 individual investors.
