I used to use a handle with my TiBook and liked it quite a bit. I haven’t tried QuickerTek’s handle for the MacBook Pro yet, but it looks interesting. I wonder if it will fit in a bag with the handle attached.

Apple MacBook Pro users now have latest in carrying handle technology for their new laptops. QuickerTek has just made available a specially designed MacBook Pro Handle that not only makes it easier to carry, but also aids ergonomics and in heat dissipation. The new MacBook Pro Handle is $48 USD and is in stock now.

This handle has several new features including:

  • Brushed and anodized finish to match the MacBook Pro case
  • Slotted mounting holes to insure perfect snag-free installation
  • Non-slip handle grip makes it more comfortable to carry and prevents scratches to the MacBook Pro case or the desktop surface
  • Easy grip thumb screws (patent pending design) allow the tilt angle to be locked in for consistent desktop placement
  • All aluminum construction for strength, heat dissipation and light weight

It appears that a number of MacBook users have been experiencing a “squishy” or unresponsive track pad button. On affected systems, the button makes a “ratchet type” sound and sticks if its triggered in certain places, making double-clicking difficult or impossible.

The malfunction does not affect all MacBooks, but can appear in any of the three models. Some users have had success getting their machines replaced, while others have been turned away.

One user, who had no success rectifying the issue during a Genius Bar visit. has detailed a creative solution,

What I really like about WriteRoom is that it’s truly distraction-free writing. If you’ve ever tried to just get some ink on paper and find yourself constantly pulled away by icons, email and that time vacuum they call the Internet, then WriteRoom if for you. Oh, and it’s free.

For Mac users who enjoy the simplicity of a typewriter, but live in the digital world. WriteRoom is a full screen, distraction free, writing environment. Unlike standard word processors that focus on features, WriteRoom is just about you and your text. Requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
