ichat-mobile.jpgEveryone’s pretty worked up over a photo of the alleged iPhone that’s cropped up at Engadget. According to legend the mythical phone could feature VOIP and true iTMS integration in a package the size of an iPod nano.
The slogan (which I cropped) “iChat Mobile, Everything you expect from a Mac, from a phone” sounds Apple-ly enough. My problem is that the slogan sets the bar a little high for a first generation product and is out of character for a company that usually under-promises and over-delivers.
I think that it’s a Photoshop job. Look at the rubbish button setup and whack keyboard – it’s a nightmare. If this is the best that Ive and company can come up with for the holy grail of mobile phones I’ll be disappointed. I’d take one of the delicious mockups over the “iChat Mobile” any day.

blackhatlogo.gifEarlier today I posted a story about about two hackers from the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas and how they supposedly demonstrated how to exploit a vulnerability in Apple’s wireless device driver to remotely access and control a MacBook over a network. The story was based, in part, on a blog entry by Brian Krebs at the Washington Post. As it turns out the hack described does not apply to MacBooks as it relies on third-party wireless hardware rather than the wireless cards supplied by Apple.

They’re not sure if it’s going to be a new iMac or MacBook Pro but MacRumors has a page 2 story indicating that we could see a Merom refreshed Mac as soon as next week’s WWDC:

Also mentioned was a slight design update and Merom (Core 2 Duo Mobile) upgrade for one of Apple’s products. Currently, MacRumors believes this to be in reference to the MacBook Pro, however with iMac supplies dwindling at many retail locations, the possibility exists that it could also be the target of an upgrade.
