Steve Jobs described the iTV as Apple’s entry into the living room, as if it were a strategic move in a larger game plan. But with several wireless TV extenders already on the market, why will Apple’s be any different?

Apple slipped out the 1.5 update to Aperture late Friday, just inside of Steve Jobs deadline of before the end of the week. Aperture 1.5 may not show up in Software Update (it didn’t for me) and it requires that you have Mac OS 10.4.8 installed. You also have to register your copy of Aperture 1.x with Apple (this is not optional) and enter your serial number before it will let you download the 125MB update.
Aperture 1.5 delivers more than 20 new and enhanced features that improve file management, metadata handling, and image adjustment. This update also addresses numerous issues related to overall reliability, performance, and compatibility.

I reported last week that Maynor and Ellch were scheduled to speak at ToorCon, where the inflammatory duo’s “complete story” of their infamous MacBook WiFi hack was to be told. The talk was supposed to “offer analysis and commentary of public responses while at the same time giving anyone who has a question a chance to have it answered” according to the hyperbole on the conference Web site.

Apple Computer will focus its new video iPod orders at Inventec rather than distributing to both Inventec and Quanta Computer, according to component makers cited in a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
A production bottleneck at Quanta is said to be the major cause of the order adjustment, said the paper. Quanta was cited by the paper as saying that orders for 2006 and 2007 are still on schedule.
