FanControl lets the user set the minimum speed of the build in fans. So you can increase your minimum fan speed to make your macbook run cooler. However in order not to damage your machine FanControl let’s you not set minimum speed to a rate under Apple’s defaults. To change fan-speeds you need to authenticate with valid credentials of an user-account with admin privileges.

IEEE Begins Revision of Laptop Battery Standard

While we WiFi freaks wait impatiently for the next-generation standard to get its own stamp of approval, the taskforce is now beginning the efforts to update the apparently insufficient “Standard for Rechargeable Batteries for Portable Computing.”

In a presumed attempt to make the next wave of notebook batteries carry less explosive tendencies, the IEEE 1625 standard is being updated “to further safeguard the reliability of laptop batteries.”

iPod shuffle (G2) Charging Issues

ipod-shuffle-g2.jpgMitsunobu Tanaka (a.k.a. KODAWARISAN) sends along this (translated) report of iPod shuffle (G2) charging issues. Has anyone else experienced this?

Connecting iPod shuffle to the Dock connector, the trouble that occurs it does not become full charge. Of usually , iPod shuffle, with charge 4 hours 80% is charged in 100% and 1 hour. But, passing 4 hours, it does not become full charge state, the trouble that is reported from the user or, it is not completely charged. Already, in order also for the apple to verify this trouble, it seems that guides temporary trouble evasion with the below-mentioned method, inspects cause.

The Apple Core: The MacBook Chasm Shrinks

A very short two weeks ago I wrote about the MacBook chasm, the difference in features and benefits between Apple’s consumer MacBook and the professional MacBook Pro. I wrote that Apple’s revving the MacBook Pro to the faster and cooler Core 2 Duo processor essentially widened the gap between the two lines and that it would make potential MacBook buyers think long and hard about the MBP before buying.
Well no more.
