MacBook Pros Exhibiting WiFi-based Kernel Panics

As good as Apple’s hardware and Mac OS X has become, some gremlins remain.
An article over at MacMerc points out a bug involving MacBook Pro laptops in which the user experiences a kernel panic while attempting to use their built-in AirPort wireless cards.
The current workarounds are to either attach an Ethernet cable to the MacBook Pro or use the WiFi function while using the AC adapter, neither solution doesn’t really help that whole “portability” thing that people tend to buy a laptop for.
Currently, no statement regarding the problem has been made by Apple and a release date for a fix has yet to be announced.

    Thank you so much for posting this! I’ve been having a horrible experience with this product and it is good to see someone else that can verify that it is real. -The people the store where I purchased this machine tell me it is not a problem on their end, but a problem with my AT&T SBC Global DSL service and their 2wire modem. They say the technology is incompatible. –However this does not seem to be the case, since other users are not using this modem.     I purchased the newest model of the 2wire, which an apple care person advised, and everything works fine as long as the macbook pro is connected to a power source…once it is unconnected the whole computer crashes. This machine did this two days after I purchased it. Let me also mention that I have exchanged this machine at least 3 times and every computer does the same thing. I am really disappointed with my apple experience.
