Approximately six weeks after the iPhone’s release, the iPhone Dev Team has announced that the group has reached a new milestone in its goal of unlocking the iPhone by extracting the full contents of the device’s radio memory. Discovery of this code allows for a “true unlock” that can pull the iPhone away from running exclusively on AT&T‘s wireless network.
The group has created a program called NOR Dumper to allow others to continue work on unlocking the iPhone and, according to Gizmodo, intends to release the program’s source code at a later date when they feel the program is in a more mature state.
Stay tuned for further details as they emerge.

There’s a reason a ladies’ sewing circle has typically been referred to as an epicenter of local gossip: because the subject matter is pretty interesting.
Keeping this and the rumor mill in mind, Apple is expected to refresh its iMac line via its product presentation tomorrow. Confirmed details about the new iMacs have yet to be released, although the guys at Gizmodo and Engadget were able to debunk rumors that the iMacs will be modeled after brushed aluminum while the MacBooks would be receiving a Santa Rosa architecture and an even-smaller Mac Mini with a larger hard drive would be hitting the market.
A source close to the situation has stated that “the new iPods will be rolling around mid-September”.
Still, it’s only 24 hours off and there should be some thing cool to emerge from it.
Stay tuned to PowerPage for live coverage and if you have any thoughts on tomorrow’s happenings, let us know via the comments or forums.
