Another Bulging MacBook Pro Battery
Here's another picture of a bulged MacBook Pro battery from PowerPage reader "Abe."
I called Apple on Monday and got a replacement with a pre-paid airbill for the return today. Zero problem with them on the phone. Once I told them what had happened he did not even ask any questions. Said a new one is on the way. That makes me think there have been many and that they'd rather keep it quiet. Anyway, these pics on the old and the replacement should give you an idea of how much it expanded. It measures more and a quarter of an inch of expansion right in the middle.
Three more pics...

Why is it when a company offers good product support a customer reacts by saying: 'That makes me think there have been many and that they'd rather keep it quiet.' Personally I would be happy they quickly addressed the problem and be complimenting their non nonsense response. But then I doubt that would have brought 'Abe' any attention.

Same here, I had this problem 2 weeks ago with my 17" macbook pro. After a phonecall with Apple support I received a replacement after only a few days.
Regarding Anonymous's comment here; I am very happy that Apple addressed this swiftly. However, after paying a good amount of money for a supposedly topnotch laptop I would expect nothing less!!
Apple does seem to want to keep this quiet as several discussions about it were killed on the Apple support forums.(as frequently happens with certain other issues)
I have no problem with Apple wanting to keep it quiet, it's bad press after all. However it would be nice if Apple could just acknowledge some of the problems instead of feverishly trying to hide them. They did this with their battery replacement program, however this particular battery issue seems to a bit wider spread then they are acknowledging. (eg not limited to a certain make or production date)
Everybody makes mistakes and time to market has to get shorter and shorter to be able to compete.
As long as they keep the support like this, I'm willing to forgive.

yep, I noticed 2 days ago my mac book pro was acting weird...like the keys were slow to respond when I typed, then the laptop would shut off without any warning. So I got the bright idea to check the battery and it was bulging. I hadn't heard of the battery issues before because I've only had it a month and I am a new mb user. Anywhos I made an appointment with a mac guy at my local applestore and hopefully they give me a new battery problem free right then and there!
