FastMac Releases 2X Blu-Ray Drive Option
On Friday, peripherals maker FastMac introduced its 2X Blu-Ray Disc. According to Macworld News, the drive is a slot-loading model compatible with the iBook G4, iMac G5, Intel iMac, 17" MacBook Pro, Mac mini, "Pismo" PowerBook G3 and PowerBook G4 (667 MHz or faster) units.
The drive is capable of writing up to 50 gigabytes of data on a single dual-layer Blu-Ray disc, is also compatible with all CD and DVD media and can operate as an 8X DVD+/-RW drive.
FastMac is currently retailing the drive for US$999.95. No word has been given as to the unit's warranty upon purchase.
