On Thursday, Apple introduced new firmware software for its fifth generation iPod, iPod classic and third generation iPod nano units.

According to Macworld UK, the 1.2.3 version firmware for the fifth generation iPod and the 1.0.3 firmware for the iPod classic and third generation iPod nano contains bug fixes. In the case of the 1.0.3 update, the fix patches bugs such as an addressing issue with the iPod nano's clock and a bug that affected play counts of songs which were affected by games on the nano.

The update also addresses some Cover Flow bugs and a spinning disk problem found in some iPod classic units.

All updates are automatically checked for and the option to update is made available when an iPod is recognized by Apple's iTunes jukebox software.
