New MacBook's Larger Vent and Updated Keyboard

A new Apple support document (306843) How to visually identify a MacBook (13-inch Late 2007) explains how to identify the newly released MacBooks. There are two key differences that are the only way to tell the new MacBook from its predecessors without popping the battery and peeking at the sticker in the battery bay.

The first difference is the new keyboard functionality. Silk-screened on the function keys are new shortcuts to Exposé, Dashboard and media controls for things like rewind, play and fast forward. The changes bring the new MacBook keyboard in line with the new Apple USB and wireless (aluminum) keyboards.

The other visual difference is an updated, larger rear vent. The new MacBooks have a significantly wider spacing between the vent fins. This change should allow the new MacBooks to cool more efficiently.

From the photos you posted, the newer MacBook looks slightly thicker too.

It's also missing the Apple logo from the command key :(
