The Apple Core: Apple Collecting IMEI Data via iPhone Code (Updated)
Maybe the paranoia wasn't entirely justified.
But your basset hound is still looking somewhat shady as he watches you eat your breakfast every morning.
Over at the The Apple Core, PowerPage head honcho Jason O'Grady has just updated his report regarding Apple's transmission of data back to a tracking server. Following up on some tests performed which discovered the ID information sent to be identical for all iPhones, the most plausible application for the data sent seems to be application identifiers.
Kind of weird that they'd be sending this information, but there has to be good reason for doing so.
