Apple Releases Security Update 2007-009 for Mac OS X 10.4.11, Mac OS X 10.5.1

Late Monday, Apple released Security Update 2007-009, its most recent set of security patches for the Mac OS X operating systems.

The updates arrives in formats designed for both the Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Mac OS X 10.5.1 operating system versions.

The updates, which range from 15.9 to 35.6 megabytes in size, add the following changes and fixes:

Users who are using Mac OS X 10.4.11 “Tiger” will see the following components updated by this release:

-Address Book
-CUPS
-ColorSync
-Core Foundation
-Desktop Services
-Flash Player Plug-in
-gnutar
-iChat
-IO Storage Family
-Launch Services
-Mail
-perl
-python
-ruby
-Samba
-Safari
-Shockwave Plug-in
-SMB
-Spotlight
-tcpdump
-XQuery

Users of Mac OS X v10.5.1 “Leopard” will see changes in the following components:

-Core Foundation
-CUPS
-Flash Player Plug-in
-Launch Services
-perl
-python
-Quick Look
-ruby
-Safari
-Samba
-Shockwave Plug-in
-Spin Tracer

As usual, the update can be downloaded through the Software Update feature found in Mac OS X. Users will need to have Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.1 previously installed to be able to install the updates.
