The Apple Core: QuickBooks for Mac Bug Deletes Desktop Folder

fruitlogo1.jpg

It's not the most fun thing in the world, but accounting software is necessary.

And when something goes wrong, especially on a critical level, a fomenting rage towards the program can be forgiven.

This seems to be the case over at The Apple Core, where PowerPage head honcho and drift racing extraordinaire Jason O'Grady is following up a new error in QuickBooks 2006 and 2007 for the Mac where a bug in the software update code is leading to dialog boxes citing a shortage of available space after attempting to download a small update for the program.

The bug also simultaneously deletes your system's desktop folder in the process.

Take a gander and if you've seen this on your end, let us know over in the comments or forums.

This just happened to my wife on Sunday. Desktop folder just gone . . . Dialog saying that there is no room for a 100K update . . . and then saying that the computer is not connected to internet. Was using QB 2006, upgraded to 2007. I hope that it doesn't continue. Moved all files off the desktop.
