Seagate Shipping 250 GB Momentus Laptop Drive for US$165

momentusdrive.jpg

Notebook hard drives are increasing in capacity and coming down in price to a point where a minor price/value war has started between the larger manufacturers. Taking a cue from this, Seagate has announced that its Momentus 250 gigabyte notebook hard drive (part of the 5400 series) is now retailing at an MSRP of US$165 according to tgdaily.

The drive is rated at 5,400 rpm, uses two 125 gigabyte platters and transfers data at three gigabits per second via a SATA interface while using 1.45 watts during read cycles and 1.54 watts during write cycles.

Seagate has also mention that it will be introducing a 7,200 rpm 250 gigabyte notebook drive, but has declined to comment on a specific launch date.

If you've found a similar or better bargain on a notebook hard drive, let us know over in the comments or forums.
