We Want Your Opinion: Sound Off on Mac OS X 10.5.2
Mac OS X 10.5.2 has been out for a few days.
And so far, it seems to install and run pretty cleanly with only one major complaint stating that it had nuked a user's playlists in iTunes.
Still, it's a fairly major operating system update. And in situations like these, the results run the gamut from everything running smoothly to the living room carpet having erupted in flame for no apparent reason while the terrier is now slow-dancing through the kitchen with the cat.
That being said, we here at the PowerPage want to hear how Mac OS X 10.5.2 has gone for you. What's gone right, what's different, what's better, what's worse and what appears to have completely gone out the window?
If you've discovered an update, solution or workaround to a problem or issue, let us know in the comments or forums.
And if something's really gone wrong, I'll be happy to hand out the torches and pitchforks in front of One Infinite Loop.

No problems at all upgrading both a Quad G5 and a MacBook Pro. Great improvements where I needed them like DNS lookups and stuttering graphics on the MBP. Glad to get rid of the translucent menu bar too. I'm happy.

I can no longer use my D-Link Router using WPA securing since the network. In fact, when I try to connect with my MacBook Pro not only does it not connect but it disables the router and modem requiring both to be cycled and I must turn off airport in order for others (not using the update) to use the wireless. Called Apple and I'm awaiting response.

I'm running it on my C2D mini and all is well. Actually, it a huge improvement in performance. It doesn't devour memory as much. Overall, it feels quicker and more stable.

I've updated to 10.5.2 on my MBP 2.33, late MB 2.2 w/X3100 and MacMini Core Duo 1.66 and all went without a hitch...including the Leopard graphics update. On MBP [3gb] - most everything seem a little snappier, not faster, but less delays, more like how the OS responded in Tiger. Noticeably better frame rate when playing World of Warcraft. On MB [2gb] - noticeable snappier. My wife is the primary user and her comments were that it is very "zippy". She has never used Tiger as the MB came with Leopard. Her tasks are mostly web, email and Illustrator. On MacMini [2gb] - not noticing speed improvements, but memory availability is higher consistently viewed from iPluse. This is my bedroom media server so it runs FrontRow often and serves up storage and now the MB is Time Machine'd to 1 of the volumes on this Mac. Much less spinning beach ball. I've not experienced any network issues, but I am on Airport Extreme and a few Airport Express' bridged together. The installed did take a long time, and the longest on the MacMini. Also noticed that both MBP and MB downloaded approximately 340mb update and MacMini downloaded a 186mb update.

PowerMac DP 1.0 MDD 1Gig RAM, plus a MB Core Duo 2.0 1 gig ram.
Updated both nicely. the MDD PawerMac had an issue witha third party USB 2.0 pci card, into which I had a bluetooth dongle to which was connected a mighty mouse (wireless). With 10.5.0 and 10.5.1, the g4 would drop the bluetooth. I never knew whether it was dropping just the bluetooth or the whole pci card. I had to reboot to get it back.
Since updating to 10.5.2, it no longer drops the bluetooth. It takes a minute to wake it back up and pick up the MM, but at least it works again. Otherwide, a nice update with no glitches.

One MAJOR fix - at least for me: Macbook Pros no longer crash when using iDVD 7.0 (iLife '08) themes. YIPPIE! This problem stretched back to 10.4.10.

The update went perfectly on our MacBook and MacBook Pro. The only serious bug we were having was MP4 files opening with audio only. One of the many recent updates fixed that.
Our iMac G5's AirPort has been completely nuked since installing Leopard in October and neither 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 has fixed it. Using an AirPort Express, so we can't blame a third party here. We also can't blame a hardware problem on the G5 since it's AirPort partially loads pages and then slows to a crippling crawl. This same machine worked flawlessly and wirelessly using Tiger.

10.4.11 on the PowerBook 1.67 G4 Stops here. Today I still get the 7.3MB iDVD 6.0.4 update to load for 10.5, and decline to do so.
Everything works fine.
Why wreck it.

Overall the update is appreciated, however, it has at least one significant issue that I've discovered. I've installed the update on four of the eight Macs at my house. On the four, two MacBook Pros and two MacBooks there is a problem with opening a new application after the computer has been running for a while.
For example, I just opened Flash CS3; almost everything is there after a moment, the toolbar, property panel, and other interface components. What's missing is the stage and timeline. I have to restart the computer to get things working again. The same symptoms exist on the other computers running with a variety of other programs. Start up your mac and use it or have it on for a few hours. At some point you're going to notice that a major piece of the interface isn't visible.

I've only updated one machine, MBP it all went fine except for a problem with Mail and Gmail messages that has gone from bad to worse.
Also I when I opened Flash it said it wanted to be re-installed, but that went fine too.
Another user posted about the problems with audio only movie files, that's a Quicktime 7.4 and 7.4.1 bug - not part of the 10.5.2 update.
Some things it hasn't fixed.. like the Leopard Finder seems to forget window settings more consistently than Tiger does.
