This could be useful. According to Japanese tech blog Impress, hardware manufacturer Fujitsu has just released a 3 GBps SATA-equipped MHZ2 BJ series hard drive offering 320 gigabytes of space with a 7,200 RPM spin rate.

The drive boasts 16 megabytes of onboard cache, a 25 decibel idle noise level and is rated as 10.5 ms for data reads and 12.5 ms for writes while drawing 2.3 watts of power.

Fujitsu has also announced that the drive will fit in the standard 9.5 millimeter enclosure, making them suitable for installation in most laptops (including the MacBook and MacBook Pro).

Sales of the MHZ2 BJ-series drive will begin in June.

A set price has yet to be announced for the drive.

As always, let us know what you think over in the comments or forums.
