Apple Releases iPhone SDK Beta 3, 3G Chipsets Mentioned

iphone3.jpg

Early Wednesday, Apple released version 3 of its iPhone/iPod touch software development kit.

The new version, a 1.36 gigabyte download, repairs bugs from the previous version and adds support for the latest iPhone operating system version.

Interestingly, the guys at 9to5Mac have looked inside the software and discovered a mention of a chipset that will power 3G access in the next generation of the iPhone. The chipset will be manufactured by Infineon and support the HSDPA and WCDMA protocols, thereby allowing it to deploy different forms of 3G in disparate international territories.

The software requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard") or later to install and run.

If you've downloaded the latest version of the SDK and noticed any major changes, let us know in the comments or forums.

the biggest down fall of you site is that you have no comments... Ever. And the reason you have no coments is that you censor comments.

Note, all who see this comment, it will be taken down, proving my point.

Ok, since you made a point of bringing this up, then I'll make a point of correcting you and the argument you're making.

First, we don't censor comments and if a comment is relevant to the post and thus relevant to the conversation, we keep it. If the comment is directly critical of another reader, serves as spam or has no application to the topic at hand, then it goes the way of the dodo.

We accept and listen to contrary opinions all the time here on the PowerPage and some of them prove to be helpful. If one reader is having a problem with a piece of hardware or software and another isn't, then the mixed comments help flesh out the situation at hand.

That being said, when a reader posts something along the lines of "you suck" to another reader or states that the PowerPage has gone downhill without providing anything specific to that end, that's useless to almost everyone involved and only serves a temporary, cathartic purpose for the author of the comment.

Whatever you have to say, we'll be more than glad to listen to. If the comment is derogatory or not part of the conversation, then it has no place on the site.

Since you decided to act like an idiot child, here is your post, corrected for grammar and spelling, free of charge:

"The biggest downfall of your site is that you have no comments... ever. And the reason you have no coments is because you censor comments.

Note, all who see this comment, it will be removed, thereby proving my point."
