Early Thursday, Apple released version 5 of its iPhone/iPod touch software development kit.

The new version, a 1.15 gigabyte download, repairs bugs from the previous version, adds support for the latest iPhone operating system version and adds the following tools/components:
-Xcode IDE
-iPhone simulator with Open GL ES support
-Interface Builder
-Instruments
-Frameworks
-Samples
-Compilers
-Shark analysis tool

The software requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard") or later to install and run.

If you've downloaded the latest version of the SDK and noticed any major changes, let us know in the comments or forums.
