The Apple Core: Psystar's Mac Clone Receives Initial Benchmark Testing

fruitlogo1.jpg

PowerPage head honcho Jason O'Grady recently sat down and compared the new Psystar Mac clone to a Mac Mini as well as all three MacBook laptops.

The results are a bit surprising and Jason's got the full details over at the Apple Core.

Which brings about another question: has anyone here picked up Psystar's new machine and what do they think of it? Let us know over in the comments or forums.

Not really a fair comparison if you don't point out what hard drive and graphics cards were present in both test subjects. The results for CPU based tests show the Mac mini a tad better than the Pystar when you divide by their respective CPU speeds. The areas where the Mac mini did poorly could be attributed to the hard drive size (i.e. 2.5" vs. 3.5" and spindle speed), and the fact that it uses the Intel integrated graphics with shared memory over what the Pystar has.
