Upcoming MacBooks May Feature LED Backlight Systems

macbooks.jpg

Per a DigiTimes Digitimes article, Apple will apparently begin using backlight LED systems in all of its MacBooks in 2009. The article points to component maker Kenmos, which was Apple's primary supplier for LED BLU units in 2007, forecasting that it might ship up to five times the number of components they shipped last year.

The switch to backlit LED displays also dovetails into Apple's efforts to create a more eco-friendly product, as these systems typically use less power and generate a clearer image for the user.

I think the LED backlight should be the standard all the way across Apple's product line. Any news or hints as to when the iMac will have the LED backlighting? I almost bought a new iMac but now want to wait for the LED backlite version. And what about bluray drives?
