Rumor: Apple May Distribute iPhone 3G to Chinese Market via China Unicom

It's been up in the air for a bit, but Apple may have reached a consensus with a Chinese provider for the upcoming iPhone 3G handset.

According to ChinaTechNews, wireless carrier may be receiving the iPhone 3G this August. In the past, Apple had difficulty getting Chinese carriers to accepts Apple's demand of a revenue sharing model.

This tactic may be going by the wayside and recent evidence, such as Chinese character recognition features being found in recent builds of Apple's iPhone/iPod touch software development kit have included Chinese character recognition.

China Unicom has yet to offer an official statement on the situation.

If you have an opinion on this or have heard anything from your end, let us know in the comments or forums.
