Apple May Release Product Red iPhone for Holidays

If you were looking for the iPhone 3G in a bevy of cool, early-iMac colors, you'll probably be disappointed. If you were looking for the handset in a nifty red, you may be in luck.

According to MacBlogz, which cites an "unconfirmed source", Apple may bring a red iPhone 3G to market this holiday season. The color would also fall under the aegis of the Product (RED) campaign, which donates a small portion of every sale towards HIV and AIDS victims in Africa.

Apple has been a participant in the Product (RED) campaign since 2006 when it debuted a red version of the second-generation iPod nano. The company now also sells red Shuffles, in addition to third-generation Nanos as part of the campaign. The rumors of a red iPhone may be backed up by reports from before the 3G launch, which correctly surmised the existence of black and white iPhone backs, while also making references to a red one.

If you've heard anything else about this on your end, let us know in the comments or forums.
