Rumor: Orange May Offer iPhone in UK Come October

3giphone.jpg

It came from Rumorville, so it must be true. Or at least to some extent.

According to Electric Pig, the exclusive arrangement between Apple and wireless carrier O2 is set to expire at the end of 2008. Per the article, credible but unnamed sources have come forward stating that carrier Orange plans to step in as a second carrier.

Orange already sells (or will sell) the iPhone in France, Austria, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and Africa.

Apple has recently pursued a wider adoption scheme for wireless carriers for the iPhone, putting aside exclusive deals as the company seeks to secure a strong international market for the handset.

If you've heard anything on this, let us know over in the comments or forums.
