iPhone to Come to Romania, Philippines on August 22nd

The iPhone will continue its international expansion in the coming weeks with rollouts in Romania and the Philippines set to take place on the 22nd of this month.
According to AppleInsider, Orange, which will be the handset's exclusive provider in Romania, has stated that it plans to offer customers the "full iPhone 3G experience." The company has invited prospective buyers to attend the official launch party on midnight of August 22nd when the doors of six Orange shops across the country will open simultaneously.
Those stores include the Orange concept store in Bucharest and the Orange shops in Iasi (Anastasie Panu Blvd.), Cluj (21 Decembrie Blvd.), Brasov (Muresenilor St.), Timisoara (Republicii Blvd.) and Constanta (St. Stefan cel Mare).
Starting Thursday, customers can register their intent to order iPhone 3G units online at the company's web site.
In other news, wireless carrier Globe Telecom announced that it will bring the iPhone 3G to the Philippines on August 22nd, complete with special prepaid and post-paid plans. The plans will include free local mobile Internet hours and free Wi-Fi browsing hours in assorted Globe Wireless Internet Zones.
Customers interested in purchasing iPhone 3G with Globe postpaid and prepaid offers are encouraged to start making their reservations beginning today via the company's web site or by calling Globe’s 24-Hour Call-in Service via landline at (632)-730-1000.
Romania and the Philippines are two of 20 additional countries set to gain access to the iPhone when Apple kicks off the second phase of its international iPhone 3G rollout on August 22nd. Another 30 countries are expected to be added as part of a third phase that will take place before the end of 2008.

That's great news for prepaid customers! I wonder if those handsets can be unlocked for use in the U.S.? I think there are a lot of prepaid customers who have the money but are fed up with contracts who would love to have an iPhone.
