AT&T Cites East Coast Data Issues as Repaired

Per scattered reports, a number of users have complained of experiencing sever problems with AT&T's network. According to Electronista Electronista, some customers have complained of a lack of cellular data functions such as e-mail and web browsing over both the EDGE and 3G networks. The problem appears to be widespread across the east coast, including areas such as New York, Missouri, Massachusetts and North Carolina and is typified by handsets misreporting excellent coverage.
The issue also appears not to be exclusive to iPhones, affecting other devices such as BlackBerries and N95s. AT&T spokesman Brad Mays says that the carrier is "aware of the reports" and looking into the situation, but one New York City customer has been told that data may be out until 9PM Eastern. In the meantime, some customers suggest it is possible to obtain credit from AT&T as compensation.
Since the initial report, AT&T has stated that the outage should be fully resolved. "There was a routing issue affecting some wireless data use in the Northeast region," says a representative. "AT&T technicians determined the cause and restored service at 11:56AM EDT. Voice calling, text messaging and BlackBerry e-mail were unaffected."
If you've seen this problem or its fix on your end, let us know in the comments or forums.
