Apple switches iPhone 6 chassis suppliers, may have dodged major manufacturing hurdle

Apple may have dodged its first major obstacle in manufacturing the iPhone 6 handsets.

Per Boy Genius Report and DigiTimes, Apple has had to overcome a serious issue with the 4.7-inch iPhone 6′s housing. The report claims that orders were first placed with component supplier Catcher for the metal phone cases, but Apple has been forced to reject the company’s chassis due to defects involving the “connecting areas between the plastic and metal parts.”

Apple TV update adds four new channels, including ABC News , PBS Kids, others

Another Apple TV update has added new channels.

Per AppleInsider, a new Apple TV update has added channels for ABC News, PBS Kids, AOL On, and Willow as part of an over-the-air update Tuesday morning.

ABC News brings both live and on-demand streaming coverage of current events, with most content open to users without a cable subscription. The channel will broadcast hourly news updates as well as four to five live reports each day, and viewers can access a growing archive of historical footage from the venerable network.

Rumor: Apple to begin manufacturing 12-inch MacBook Air notebook in Q3

If there’s a rumor, there’s usually a kernel of truth to go along with it.

A new report via the sometimes-accurate DigiTimes claims that Apple’s supply partners will begin production of an anticipated 12-inch MacBook Air sometime in Q3 of this year. The current estimate points towards July and Apple is apparently planning to stick with the current MacBook Air design, with only minor unseen tweaks to rearrange certain internal structures and accommodate an adequately sized battery.
