Apple releases iOS 10.0.2 update, chases after headphone audio control, other bugs

Look at it this way: Bug fixes are a good thing.

On Friday, Apple released the iOS 10.0.2 update for its newly-released iOS 10 operating system.

The update, a 56.1 megabyte download, offers the following fixes and changes:

Rumor: Apple purchases TupleJump, expands machine learning resources

Machine learning is the hip new thing and Apple wants to be as large a part of it as humanly possible.

Adding to its collection of machine learning acquisitions, following a buyout of Perceptio at the end of 2015 and Turi just a few months ago, Apple has now acquired an India/US-based machine learning team, Tuplejump.

While Apple has yet to confirm the purchase and offered the standard line about occasionally buying other outfits without discussing its purposes or plans, the company offered the previous description of itself on its web site a while back:

Yahoo confirms hack, roughly 500 million email accounts breached

In the annals of hacks and breaches, this is pretty epic.

Yahoo confirmed on Thursday data “associated with at least 500 million user accounts” have been stolen in what may be one of the largest cybersecurity breaches ever.

The company said it believes a “state-sponsored actor” was behind the data breach, meaning an individual acting on behalf of a government. The breach is said to have occurred in late 2014.

“The account information may have included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords (the vast majority with bcrypt) and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers,” Yahoo said in a statement.
