This could provide all the Apple Watch details you’ve been hankering for.

Apple said it will hold a “special event” for March 9 that is likely to be a coming-out party for Apple Watch. Apple has said the watch will go on sale in April.

The event will start at 10 a.m. at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.

Apple unveiled the Apple Watch in September when it also showed off its new iPhones and Apple Pay, its mobile-payment service. On March 9, Apple is expected to delve deeper into the various features of the watch. The presentation aims to answer the defining purpose of the company’s first all-new product since it introduced the iPad in 2010.

Well, there’s gotta be a nugget of truth in here somewhere.

The rumor mill currently has Apple CEO Tim Cook telling Apple Store employees in Berlin that he wears his Apple Watch everywhere, “even in the shower.”

Apple has not officially designated the Apple Watch as either waterproof or water resistant. If Mr. Cook actually said he wears his in the shower, it could indicate that Apple will market the device as one or the other.

It never hurts to have the infrastructure in place.

Visa Europe has announced that its European contactless payment terminals will support the tokenization service used by Apple Pay by mid-April. This would allow Apple to introduce Apple Pay to Europe anytime from this point on.

Tokenisation technology will be at the heart of new mobile payment solutions and has been hailed as one of the best data protection and fraud prevention methods available. The new service will be available for European financial institutions from mid-April 2015.

Although Europe has had contactless payment cards for several years, these currently transmit the actual card details to the terminal. Apple Pay, in contrast, transmits single-use codes which card companies can map back to the actual card, a functionality currently only available in the USA. As of mid-April, that functionality will be available in Europe too–at least for Visa cards…

As nifty as Apple’s CarPlay technology is – and promises to be – some auto makers seem slow to pick it up and run with it.

Despite being among the first automakers to sign on with Apple’s CarPlay initiative, Toyota is reportedly planning to stick with its own in-house infotainment system for the foreseeable future.

“We may all eventually wind up [with CarPlay or Android Auto], but right now we prefer to use our in-house proprietary platforms for those kinds of functions,” Toyota spokesperson John Hanson told the New York Times. Hanson limited his comments to the U.S. market, and while Apple’s iPhone remains wildly popular in Toyota’s home country of Japan, it does not seem likely that the stance will change across the Pacific.
