Good news for Mac fans. Sales are still going strong. This from the PaineWebber analysis of December PC sales.
AAPL posted an impressive performance in December, gaining a point of share in the retail channel to 8%, on unit growth of 60% y/y. Sales of iMacs were up 42% y/y, with strong support for the new generation iMacs (launched in October), which exhibited unit growth of 80% m/m. Apple gained 2 points of share m/m in retail desktops in December. iBook unit sales increased 22% m/m, helping to lift Apple’s market share in retail notebooks to 9% in December, up from 4% in December of 1998. And the inventory data suggests that Apple has solved its supply constraint issues.
