Aerie Networks Attempting to Resuscitate Ricochet

In 2000, Metricom, Inc. signed a lease for space in my center city Philly office building. They installed Ricochet Network Wired Access Point (WAP) equipment and transciever antennas, paid one month’s rent and then went backrupt, abandoning the equipment and the lease.

Last year Metricom, Inc. sold thier Ricochet Network assets to Aerie Networks of Denver, CO. Today I received a letter from Aerie stating their intention to reactivate Ricochet in selected markets.

It looks like this letter was sent out to any property owner that is holding abandoned network equipment. Aerie is offering partnership opportunities and network services in exchange for rent payments. They have asked landlords to leave the equiment in place and contact Aerie to discuss the status and availability of the equipment.
