Go2Mac has confirmed that Apple VARs are being asked to return all unopened AirPort base stations and cards to the company. Apple will update the AirPort software and firmware to version 1.1 and then redistribute them to resellers. The products are not defective; they just need to be updated.
Our source at a major Apple product distributor tells us that Apple is taking the returns through the 15th of February. Updated versions of the AirPort hardware are expected to flow into the channel in less than two weeks.
