Apple Announces 667 MHz TiBook Revision

Apple today announced the 667 MHz PowerBook Titanium G4. The updated PowerBook features a 550 or 667 MHz PowerPC G4 processor with Velocity Engine, 256K of on-chip level 2 cache running at processor speed. The 550 MHz model ships with a 100 MHz system bus, the 667 MHz model ships with a 133MHz system bus.

Other notable features include built-in 2D/3D graphics acceleration through an integrated ATI Mobility Radeon graphics accelerator with AGP 4X support and 16MB of DDR RAM video memory.

Unfortunately, Apple could not get the combination DVD/CD-RW drive ready in enough quantity for this release, so you will have to choose between 6x DVD -or- an 8x CD/RW, an unfortunate black-eye on an otherwise beautiful machine.

Pricing from the Apple Store:

  • 550 MHz @ 100 MHz, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB, DVD, ATi Mobility Radeon – US$2199
  • 667 MHz @ 133 MHz, 512 MB RAM, 30 GB, DVD, ATi Mobility Radeon – US$2999
  • 667 MHz @ 133 MHz, 512 MB RAM, 48 GB, DVD, ATi Mobility Radeon – US$3299
