Apple releases watchOS 3 update

It’s not as high profile a release as today’s launch of iOS 10, but it’s definitely still notable.

On Tuesday, Apple released watchOS 3. The update operating system include battery life enhancements, and speed improvements to the Apple Watch. A user’s favorite apps will be kept in memory, background updates will pre-cache data, and apps will launch instantly on the new OS.

Also included are new customizable watch faces, including a new fitness-focused watch face that presents activity-focused rings at all times along with a new Minnie Mouse watch face.

The new operating system also includes a fix that makes it easier to transition between watch faces with a quick swipe.

watchOS 3 still requires the user’s Apple Watch to be paired with an iPhone for full functionality.

If you’ve tried watchOS 3 and have any feedback, please let us know what you think in the comments.
