Joe,
You’ve got it all wrong – the Apple TV works with all TVs. Apple would prefer you to hook it up to an HDTV but if you look at their site it says right there that it will work with the Enhanced Definition sets the retailers have been foisting on people the past few years as well as SD TVs that everyone has.
Connecting cables is a snap so no more comment needed there. And it is as easy as an iPod – it’s an iPod for your TV. Go check one out in an Apple store and you’ll see for yourself.

The Apple TV is an amazing device. Without having to buy into either HD DVD format, I can get fantastic looking HD video on my HDTV.
With refurbs available I might just get one so I can have a completely stock unit (for Apple’s official upgrades) and one to hack (for all the fun stuff you can do with the Apple TV.)
