Apple's Big Announcement … Revealed?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Steve Jobs will officially announce the new iMac, codenamed Kihei, tomorrow.

A source close to Apple reveals that there is internal conflict surrounding the various Kihei models. On one hand, some think that the Apple market needs configurability, while others fear that introducing variations will confuse the market and dilute what made the iMac a success.

Sources at the reseller level are annoyed with Apple’s lack of announcement policy. Apple gives resellers no advance warning or chance to inlcude new products in their inventory. Plus, Apple won’t buy back old units like PC manufacturers do to help the stores break even.

Another source close to Apple reports that there isn’t a specific date for any of the models. They will probably be released around the beginning of November, but the Taiwanese earthquake could delay shipment. Kihei models could possibly be called either the iMac2 or iMac Millennium.

If you can’t wait for Kihei or it’s not in your budget, look for iMac price drops at CompUSA very soon.
