Apple's Computer Chameleon

A New York Times article (free reg. req’d) by John Markoff discusses Apple’s new United States patent application, No. 20030002246, for “active enclosure for a computing device”

”It seems that the quirky computer maker is considering the manufacture of a computer whose shells change colors at the owner’s whim.”

Sounds like this could be the next version of the PowerBook 1400s interchangeable “Book Covers” or even the cool snap-on TiBook covers making the rounds in Akihabara.
