The Apple Core: Second iTunes Phone Available from Motorola

motorola-SLVR.jpgThe Motorola SLVR L7 is the company's second iTunes mobile phones and it's now available from Cingular for US$199 with a two-year agreement.

The SLVR is a quad-band candy bar shaped mobile phone that inherits the laser etched keypad from Motorola's wildly popular RAZR line of phones. It is also much thinner than first iTunes phone, the Motorola ROKR (also from Cingular), that was announced on 07 September 2005 for US$249.

Like a Mac running Windows, Moto phones are beautifully designed but run one of the worst UIs on the market. Does anyone know if Sony-Ericcson is planning a successor to the T6XX line? I would love a SE candybar that is quad band/ EDGE compatible. Anybody listening?

It still only stores 100 songs...
After reading numerous white papers and talking with designers at Motorola's Cellular Subscriber Group here in Northern Illinois, I'm 99% positive that the new SLVR is plagued with the ROKR's 100 song limit. Regardless of how much memory you have on your TransFlash card. Disappointing, to say the least. If the SLVR were capable of holding more music, wouldn't you think Motorola would make that a selling point? I'm just sayin'.
