Apple: It's Normal for MacBooks to Moo
If you've been keeping up with MacBook sans-Pro news, you may have heard something about an infamous "moo"-like noise coming from the fan. Basically, the fan goes on and off and on and off and on and off continuously, in a vain attempt to keep the machine cool. Now, I'm no engineer, but it certainly doesn't take one to recognize that this isn't normal behavior.
I took my black MacBook to the Genius at the Apple store (Oakbrook, by the way) to get this fixed, and his response? "It's normal. A fan will do what it needs to do to keep the machine cool." Gee, thanks.

Let me guess, it's "within spec" and "not impacting the functionality of the computer" just like the vibrating capacitor "whine" on my MBP

How is this getting picked up as news, and how is it getting put out as "Apple" saying it's ok to moo. 1 Apple store employee said it. Apple made no official release. The employee was probably just annoyed with Conrad when he complained, and was also probably misinformed. He also may not have realized how frequently it's mooing.
It's really unprofessional to go around spreading a story like this that makes it look like Apple is taking an official stance. People who call AppleCare about it get it fixed, so why would Apple be saying it's not a problem.
